Health visitor trainings

Cohort ‘18, Growing Up in Hungary is a countrywide research, expecting about 10,000 children as participants. We enlisted the help of the health visitor network for the first two phases of our research, as the health visitors get in touch with the pregnant women anyway. For the sake of professionalism in conducting the research, we held preparatory training sessions for the health visitors, at 37 locations throughout the country. About 600 health visitors attended our training sessions. During these sessions, we introduced them to the purpose of the survey, the questionnaire, the interview situation, and prepared them for prospective questions. We are convinced that a comprehensive preparation of the health visitors will establish the success of our research: the pregnant women will understand the importance of the research from the information provided by the health visitors, and we will have a high response rates. The more the initial sample represents the entire population of the country – in our case, all the pregnant women –, the more accurate picture we get about the generation now growing up.
