Born in Southwest

The Hungarian Demographic Research Institute and the Institute of Psychology at the University of Pécs commenced a complementary data collection on a territorial subsample of the Cohort ‘18. Starting in April of 2019, coworkers at the Institute of Psychology contact the cohort families at locations included in the subsample when the child is one year old. During this contact, a short questionnaire is filled out, and playful tasks are conducted with the children.

By contacting a smaller group, the aim of the complementary phase is to get an even more accurate picture about the development of the children’s social, emotional and cognitive skills, along with the factors that influence them. Hereby we ask our respondents in settlements of Southern Transdanubia to welcome our colleagues with confidence. Their participation in this study can enhance our understanding of children growing up in Hungary.
